Go treasure hunting in Äskhult
Hunting for treasure using coordinates and clues is a fun way to explore the village and the surrounding countryside.
Here's how it works
Geocaching is like a modern treasure hunt. You search for caches—which are hidden containers—using coordinates and the GPS on your cell phone. All you need to do is sign up for free with a username at geocaching.com External link., and then you’re ready to go.
When you find a cache, write your username and the date in the logbook inside the container.
In the Äskhult Cultural Reserve, there are a total of 21 caches: a series of 18 caches and three caches that are not part of the series. The caches take you to places you may not have visited before, and you’ll learn more about the village, its history, and various locations in the surrounding countryside.
Good luck, and watch out for muggles!
Apps
You need an app to use your smartphone for geocaching. Not only to find the caches, but also to log them online. There are several apps available at various price points for both iPhone and Android.
