Windbreak and fire pit

After a long hike, there’s something special about reaching a shelter. You unpack your backpack, breathe in the fresh air, and listen to the sounds of nature all around you. Brewing a pot of coffee over an open fire to go with your bun adds an extra touch of magic.

Our wind shelter and fire pit are open to everyone, anytime. If you’re hiking the Hallandsleden trail, the wind shelter at Äskhult makes for a natural stop along your route. Or you can bring the whole family and grill some hot dogs on a sunny spring day.

The wind shelter and fire pit are managed by the Kungsbacka Municipality, which also restocks the firewood supply several times a year. Please contact us if you notice the firewood is running low.

It’s always a good idea to bring your own bag of firewood just to be safe—sometimes it runs out quickly. On the lawn next to the wind shelter, you’ll also find the village’s only campsite. Camping is not permitted within the reserve’s boundaries.

Always take your trash with you and make sure the fire is completely extinguished before you leave.
