Hiking trails and nature trails

The Limmahög Trail is approximately 5.4 km long.

The trail is a nature trail that starts at the nature center and winds through the heathland all the way to the Limmahögarna hills. It is easy to walk and traverses varied terrain.

Nature Trail - blue trail markers

The nature trail is 1.5 km long.

The trail starts at the nature center and follows the crest of the ridge north toward the church. It then heads back east of the road. Feel free to pick up a brochure at the nature center. In it, you can read about the ten numbered stops along the trail.

The Lygnern Loop - red trail

The Lygnern Trail is about 2 km long.

The trail starts at the nature center and follows the crest of Bräckan north toward the church. It then heads back east of the road, down across the meadow toward Lake Lygnern, and into the forest. In the forest, you head back south on an old sunken road. The road was once used as a connection between the steamboat ISA and the train to Gothenburg, which used to have a stop down in the gravel pit. Through the forest, you then make your way down to Lygnern’s shore and the picnic area.

Then take the stairs up to continue. Once you’ve made it all the way up the stairs, turn south and you’ll emerge onto a beautiful meadow with a fantastic view of the entire lake.

Then walk west, up the hill and through the gates to reach the Kolera Cemetery from 1834. After a few more meters, you’ll arrive at the parking lot.

Lislingan - yellow marker

The Lislingan trail is about 4 km long.

It starts at the nature center and heads south on the gravel road toward the Li burial ground. At the beginning, it also follows the orange markings of the Hallandsleden trail.

Walk through the gate into the sheep pasture, head diagonally down toward the Li burial ground, and cross the road. You’ll walk through the burial ground, one of Sweden’s largest burial sites from the Iron Age and Viking Age, with over a hundred standing stones. The Frodestone is the tallest, standing over five meters high. Once you reach the stone, turn back, cross the road again, and head east up the hill.

Walk through the gate and across the heath. Cross the road and walk up the hill until you reach the top of Svalhögen, one of Halland’s finest viewpoints and the only place in Sweden where you can see both a lake and the sea at the same time.

The trail continues south along the edge of Bräckan and across a road, then turns back north through beautiful pastures and natural landscapes. Across the road and into the next pasture, you’ll have a strikingly beautiful view of Lygnern.

Continue along the edge of Bräckan northward all the way to the northern edge of the reserve and across the road. Follow the winding path down into the gravel pit. The markers in the pit will lead you back to the nature center.
