The Kattegatt Trail offers cycling tourists a wealth of experiences, both big and small. You’ll cycle through stunning coastal scenery, close to lovely sandy beaches and beautiful viewpoints. The trail takes you through picturesque fishing villages and charming towns. Along the way, you’ll pass several historic sites and interesting attractions, all of which are well worth a visit.

The Kattegattleden through Kungsbacka

A detour to Tjolöholm Castle is a must before you reach Kungsbacka’s town center from the south. In the town center, you’ll find picturesque wooden houses, cobblestone streets, cozy cafés, and modern shopping centers.

The trail starts at Kungsbacka Square and takes you out toward the Onsala Peninsula along Kungsbacka Fjord. Enjoy the cliffs, marinas, and saltwater swimming spots. Take a detour down to Gottskär for ice cream or a bite to eat at Hamnplan.

Then follow the car-free Säröbanan trail along the coast, lined with swimming spots and beautiful nature. Stop and explore the scenic Särö Västerskog forest before continuing north on your bike.

Along the route, there is a wide range of services, from lodging and restaurants to bike repair.

Craving a snack or feeling hungry?

Cafés and restaurants are strung like pearls along the entire route. When you get tired, there are plenty of different accommodation options to choose from—everything from campgrounds and B&Bs to hotels. There are several spa facilities along the coast where you can get relief for aching joints and muscles or simply just—relax.
