Viewpoints
Isn't there something special about being high up and looking all the way to the horizon? A breathtaking sense of freedom where anything is possible and the whole world lies at your feet.
Here are some of Kungsbacka’s best viewpoints that will give you that wonderful tingling sensation in your stomach.
The Viewpoint at Björkris
High up on the mountain in Björkris is a spectacular wooden viewpoint that looks like a giant dome-shaped pergola. From here, you have a fantastic view of the entire town of Kungsbacka, and you can even catch a glimpse of Kungsbackafjorden to the west.
Tölöberg
Climb the 179 steps to the old water tower from 1897. From here, you can see almost all of Kungsbacka, stretching out toward the sea and Kungsbackafjorden.
Naturum Fjärås Bräcka
Take a seat at one of the lovely rest areas on the edge of Bräckan, 60 meters above sea level. From here, you have a fantastic view of Halland’s largest lake, Lygnern, and the sea. It is the only place in Sweden where you can see both the sea and a lake at the same time.
Svalhögen
Svalhögen is located 300 meters south of the nature center’s parking lot and is a viewpoint you absolutely must not miss. At the top of the hill, there is a burial ground and a stone circle.
The Ulva Cliffs at Äskhult
The Ulva Cliffs aren’t just a beautiful viewpoint—they also take you 200 years back in time! It’s said that you can see all the way to Småland. While enjoying the view of the landscape, you also get a glimpse of one of Europe’s most endangered habitats: the heathland. When you stand atop the cliffs, you’ll see views that are aesthetically, culturally, and environmentally significant.
Flaggberget near Tjolöholm
Flaggberget is the highest point above the castle and gets its name from the fact that a flag has flown atop the hill for several hundred years. Flaggberget is for those who are a bit more adventurous and want to feel like they’re “on top of the world.” The view from Flaggberget is definitely worth the effort!
The Pilot Lookout on Mönster
At the far end of Onsala, on the Mönster peninsula, lies the Hållsundsudde-Sönnerbergen Nature Reserve. At the very top of Mönster stands the old pilot lookout, offering a beautiful view of the sea and out toward Nidingen. On a clear day, you can also see the Väröbruk industrial area and the Ringhals nuclear power plant.
